Salisbury RFC enjoyed a standout weekend of junior rugby, with both boys’ and girls’ teams making strides on and off the pitch.

The U16 girls hosted Trojans in their first season competing in the HOB League. While the result didn’t go their way, the team continues to show impressive progress as they grow into regular competition. Coaches and players alike took valuable lessons from the game, and the team will use the break to prepare for upcoming fixtures later this month.

The Colts were the stars of the weekend, fielding two full teams for the second time this season—a total of 38 players. Both sides delivered convincing victories, with the home team defeating Devizes 50-22 in the D&W Cup and the away team triumphing 26-7 over Blandford in Hampshire League 2. Additionally, six Colts represented Dorset & Wiltshire at county level, and three ex-Colts attended U20s trials, highlighting the strength of the club’s player pathway.

Meanwhile, the U16 boys faced a strong Lytchett side and battled through tough conditions to secure a well-earned win.

Salisbury RFC Director of Junior Rugby, Jason Yarwood, expressed his pride in the club’s achievements: “Days like these, even with awful weather, remind me why we do what we do. To see the strides our U16 girls are making, the resilience of our U16 boys, and the growth of our Colts is truly special. It’s not about results—it’s about development, representation, and building something together.

With teams competing and thriving across all age groups, the future of Salisbury RFC looks bright.
