The Colts lifted the cup after an emphatic 45–5 victory over Blandford at North Dorset RFC.
Already crowned Wiltshire champions and Hampshire Plate winners earlier in the campaign, Salisbury entered the final determined to complete a memorable treble — and did so in outstanding fashion.
On a glorious afternoon, the Colts made a blistering start, crossing for a converted try within the opening three minutes. A penalty quickly followed, and by playing with pace, precision, and power, Salisbury added four more converted tries before half-time to establish a commanding 38–0 lead at the break.
Blandford regrouped admirably in the second half and were rewarded with an early try. However, Salisbury remained composed, controlling possession and territory, and added a final converted try midway through the half to seal a resounding 45–5 triumph.
This latest success crowns a ground-breaking season for the Colts. For the first time, Salisbury RFC fielded enough players to compete in two separate leagues, with 54 players coming together as one united squad. To secure the Hampshire Plate, the Wiltshire County Cup, and now the Dorset & Wilts Cup in one season is an extraordinary achievement and testament to the strength, depth, and spirit within the club. Salisbury have not lifted the Dorset & Wilts cup since 1992.
Every player — whether involved in the finals or contributing throughout the year — played an essential role in this success story. Their teamwork, commitment, and club spirit have been exceptional from start to finish.
Jason Yarwood, Director of Youth Rugby is justifiably proud and grateful. He made clear what this meant “A huge thank you goes to the coaches, team managers, first aiders, and parent helpers, who’s tireless off-field support has been instrumental in enabling the Colts to thrive. Fielding two squads simultaneously on several occasions this season has been no small logistical feat and is a true credit to the organisation behind the scenes”.
Jason was equally appreciative of the Club’s sponsors “A special thanks must also go to Salisbury RFC’s Junior and Colts rugby sponsors, NFU Mutual Salisbury & Wareham and Sarum Vision, for their fantastic support throughout the season. Their backing has been vital to the squad’s development and success”.
As many of these talented players now prepare to make the step into senior rugby, they leave behind a fantastic legacy — and Salisbury RFC looks forward with excitement to their future in the green and white.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, families, and all who have supported the Colts — Dorset & Wilts Cup Champions 2025!
