An afternoon of training and fun will be on offer to all women and girls who wish to come and give rugby a try.
On 14th September 2025, the club will be hosting a Women’s and Girls’ Try Rugby event at Hudson’s Field, starting at 2pm. The afternoon will feature training sessions alongside the SRFC U12, U14 and U16 players, as well as the SRFC Women’s team, designed to give visitors a taste of what rugby has to offer. The event is open to women and girls of all ages who would like to come along and join in the fun.
Whether you are inspired by the Red Roses, Ilona Maher or the Black Ferns, have played in the past and rekindled your love of the game, or simply want to see what all the fuss is about, there will be something for you.
Our U18 girls will be hosting Trojans during the afternoon, so there will be a chance to watch them in action, as well as enjoy a variety of training sessions and fun activities to take part in. No experience or specialist kit is needed to join in—just an interest in becoming part of a great team and having fun.
Following the event, the clubhouse will be showing one of the quarter-finals (fingers crossed it will be the Red Roses), as well as serving food and drinks.
SRFC is the only club in the area now offering a full rugby pathway for girls—from minis to junior age grade, all the way through to senior women’s rugby—so come along and give rugby a try!
