The Colts hosted North Dorset in a closely-fought game

Sunday 2nd. November 2025: Salisbury Rugby Club's Colts welcomed North Dorset to Castle Road for their second cup game of the season. The teams had met in a friendly in the season's opening game which Salisbury had won. Both teams have progressed since then and they knew it would be a hard-fought game between two evenly matched sides.

Salisbury made the early running, and good teamwork created space for inside-centre Leo Dear to go over for a try. Team captain and scrum-half Ollie Norman added the conversion. That woke the visitors up and after applying pressure on Salisbury's line they scored, unconverted. They scored a carbon-copy try a few minutes later to take the lead.

Salisbury got their defence organised and carried hard to get close to North Dorset's line. Second-row Arthur Ullyatt made a strong break and scored close to the posts, converted by Norman, and Salisbury went into the break leading by 14 points to 10.

Conditions deteriorated in the second half, making handling difficult. Both teams defended well, and the only score of the half came from Ullyatt, converted again by Norman, to leave the final score Salisbury 21 North Dorset 10.

After the game, coach Doug Logan said "To say we won ugly would not do the boys' efforts justice but at times it wasn’t pretty. Despite the relatively scratch side and several players playing out of position, the team found a way to win and had large chunks of the game in dominance."
