What a great day. Finally Sunday 17 October arrived - the day of the Salisbury Rugby Club Mini Rugby Festival. The anticipation from the kids (and some of the parents too) was almost unbearable in the run up to it.

In the end 11 clubs fielded 60 teams enabling some 900 children to participate. The day was blessed with absolutely fantastic weather which allowed everyone to concentrate on the rugby rather than surviving the elements. Across all of the age groups a really impressive standard of play was achieved. It was all carried out in the spirit of the game and there was a wonderful family atmosphere supporting the mini players. The Spire Trophy for the Best Club was delivered to the Festival by the Army in a Lynx Helicopter which was very exciting for everyone - particularly the Cake Stall.

The Trophy was won after a hard days rugby by Wimborne - many congratulations. A big thanks goes to all the sponsors and helpers that made the day possible and of course to 900 mini rugby players (and their coaching and support staff) for producing such a high grade day of sport - well done to you all!!
