Salisbury recorded their first away league win on Saturday, beating Olney 35 - 22. The visitors started in determined mood playing with pace and purpose. Skipper Gareth Blackborow crossed the line for a try in the 3rd minute which Rory Davis then converted to establish a 7 point lead. Olney managed to strike back with a penalty moments later but it was clear that the momentum was with Salisbury. Wing Tom Pottage scored two tries in the 6th and 15th minute and Davis converted the second to extend the lead to 19 - 3.

After a blistering first quarter Salisbury couldn't sustain the same level of intensity and Olney hit back with two scores in the 20th and 29th minutes. The second was converted and the hosts had got back on terms at 19 - 15. However, a penalty from Davis provided Salisbury with a 7 point margin going into halftime.

Despite the unseasonally high temperature, Salisbury raised the pace in the third quarter. Forwards and backs combined effectively to maintain pressure and second rower Arnie Vyas was particularly effective both in support and carrying possession forward.  Davis converted pressure to points with two penalty kicks on 47 and 60 minutes to put the visitors in the driving seat. Salisbury then put the game beyond the host's reach when Luke Esnouf scored in the 63rd minute. Davis added the extras to provide the visitors with a commanding 35 - 15 lead entering the closing stages. Olney then fought back and restored respectability with a converted try with under 5 minutes remaining.

After such a cohesive team performance, Salisbury can look forward with confidence to hosting league strugglers Buckingham at Castle Road on Saturday.
