Salisbury travelled to Bradford on Avon on Saturday and extended their unbeaten run to seven league wins with a thumping 97 - 0 win over the lowest placed club in Southern Counties South. Salisbury notched-up 15 trys in all which has contributed to a massive season's points difference of 355.
Despite the score line, the visitors didn't have it all their own way. Bradford got stuck into Salisbury from the start and kept them on the back-foot during the opening exchanges. It took an impressive individual effort from prop George Morgan (pictured) on 6 minutes to settle the visitors down. Morgan scooped up a loose ball and sprinted the remaining 40 metres to touch down, Tom Pottage added the extras. On 16 minutes flanker Dave Salomon broke and shipped the ball for wing Pottage to add Salisbury's second try. With the score at 12 - 0, Salisbury were beginning to look more comfortable. Further trys followed for skipper Liam Gilbert, Phil Carr and Pottage (2) which included Pottage's brilliant effort in which he evaded 3 tackles before chipping ahead and winning the chase for the touch down. The half concluded with Salisbury firmly in control and leading 36 - 0. Bradford were unable to compete during the second half as Salisbury added a further 61 unanswered points. Second half trys were scored by Simon Smith, Luke Esnouf, David Tonge (2), James Kay (2), Dave Thorpe (2) and Phil Carr.
Salisbury will take a break from league action next Saturday but host Bridport on 13th November and travel to second-place Corsham on 20th November. Despite being 5 points behind Salisbury, Corsham have recently recorded some impressive wins. They have a strong pack and pose a real threat to Salisbury's unbeaten record and promotion ambitions.
