Salisbury vs Fordingbridge, 12.30, Sun 18th Sep
The Salisbury ladies faced Fordingbridge away this Sunday in their first of the 12 friendlies lined up this season. A convincing 39-0 win shows that the ladies have managed to maintain a high level since last years games, and manage to be the only winning Salisbury side of the weekend. Tight and dominant scrumming from a mostly inexperienced pack helped keep morale up, and though Fordingbridge upped their game in the second half, the ladies pack were rarely driven back. A hat-trick of tries and an awesome hand-off from winger Jenny Lunn, a further one from zippy wing Gemma David and another hat-trick from Sadie Burton at crash centre, showed the opposition they meant business. Lineouts and penalties were almost flawless and allowed the backs to flow with quick ball and tight lines of running. From 1 through to 15, every player of the Salisbury ladies worked hard and didn't miss a trick. With a home game to Southampton on 9th October, the ladies are entering the season with high hopes of success in the future.
