Home Juniors Match Reports U13's v. Havant 06/02/11
U13's v. Havant 06/02/11
  U13’s fixture with Havant 06/02/2011
Although quite a few players down which was very disappointing Salisbury took on probably the best team in Hampshire and gave a very good account of themselves. The Salisbury coaches were quite concerned about the possible mismatch and the Havant coach promised to take off his better/bigger players after 10 minutes of play if we thought it necessary. This may sound a bit of an overreaction on our part but bear in mind one of their players was the size of the Isle of Wight and certainly moved a lot faster. The fact that he and most of the others stayed on the pitch until well into the second half was testament to the performance of all the boys.

Nobody was keeping score but the first match was lost something like 4 tries to 1, in itself quite an achievement as we had possibly 7 regulars away. The people who came in really stood up to the mark and hopefully benefitted from playing in such a competitive game. The likes of Jonny Williams, William Turner, Jack Clark, Toby Brown all stepped up to the plate, but two standout performances from Jack Busby relishing his new found freedom in the back row and Matthew Stockton who was playing his first proper game at prop and deservedly won Havants’ man of the match trophy. But Matthew it is not good form to point out that the trophy is out of date, (he must be awful to go supermarket shopping with).

The next game was against there B team which was duly won 15-12 even though the team was visibly tiring and had one of their star players forcibly removed for a while.

Well done to everyone who turned up and those that didn’t certainly missed out.
