Home Juniors Match Reports Salisbury U13's v. Minety 27 Mar 11
Salisbury U13's v. Minety 27 Mar 11

Minety 7   Salisbury U13’s 48
Salisbury finished their Wiltshire Cup campaign with their fifth straight win on Sunday with an away win at Minety. The scoreline possibly did not reflect the game as Minety put up sound resistance but just could not get enough ball to really trouble Salisbury. On one of the few occasions they did, they managed to score the first try Salisbury had conceded in the competition. This came after the prolific wing Tom Lewis had scored two tries both converted to give the away team a slight cushion.
Although the forwards as ever gave the team a good platform it was a little mystifying as to why at kick offs and at lineouts the ball was dropped in what should have been ideal conditions, even if the ground was a little hard. Excellent scavaging from Toby Twentyman resulted in a try which gave Salisbury a handy half time  19-7 lead.
The second half was similar to the first with a succession of forward drives pulled in the defenders to leave acres of space for Edward Crossley to score and convert. Tom Lewis then scored another couple from his emergency role of centre after Felix Martin went off with a foot injury. James Bagguley capped another sound performance with a solo try, taking advantage of an overeager defence to cut inside and score near the posts for another converted try.
There were some good runs particularly from James Hill with Adrian Scott not far behind . Jack Busby got in on the act in the second half having paid the price for being late with some excellent lineout work and strong running capping it off when his long arms enabled him to reach and score the final try. Tobias Bedford continued his improvement on the wing, while Max Bird was the oppositions’ man of the match, although he does need to practice his drinking.
A sound result but still lots to improve on, offloading although nice to see, has been a little overdone at times,  we need to create space for others by committing defenders and not running laterally.
Squad for the game.
Adrian Scott, Robert Crossley, Harry Jones, James Hill, Matthew Stockton, Jack Busby, Toby Twentyman, Joe Biggins, Charlie Bramble, Max Bird, James Bagguley, Cameron McGregor, Tom Lewis , Felix Martin, Tobias Bedford, Stephen Bush, Harry Pizzey, Edward Crossley
