Home Juniors Match Reports Salisbury U13 v. Trowbridge 6 March 11
Salisbury U13 v. Trowbridge 6 March 11

Salisbury U13 v Trowbridge
Score 22-5 to Salisbury
Salisbury travelled to play Trowbridge with pretty much a B squad pack supplemented with a few A team backs playing in unfamiliar positions, in determined mood.To their credit Trowbridge were able to raise 14 players not bad when they only had 4 at the beginning of the season. A returning Joe Biggins was volunteered to help them out on his return to the ranks after a tumble drier destroyed his kit (and most of his house). Salisbury started well and went ahead with a try for James Bagguley playing his first game for Salisbury in the back row. The try was easily converted by his deputy at No 10 Ollie Eastham. Trowbridges pack slowly started to get into their stride with Joe very much leading by example as though he had never been away. A quickly taken penalty on halfway caught the entire Salisbury side off guard and Trowbridges big centre just about managed to get over the line. The try went unconverted leaving Salisbury to go into the interval 7-5 ahead, although they lost the services of Cameron McGregor with a trip to A & E with a twisted knee, not serious I understand. (Do you still have the shirt?).
With rolling substitutions the backs were forever changing and not really getting the chance to settle into any sort of rhythm, (I blame the coach), the forwards with man of the match Hamish Fawcett aided and abetted by that speedster Harry Jones producing some tremendous surges upfield. This gave the backs a platform for the centre pairing of Edward Crossley and Tobias Bedford to claim a try apiece. A couple of tries also went begging before James Bagguley finished the scoring with a solo try running through some pretty weak tackling it has to be said.
Trowbridge never looked like scoring in the second half which was in itself pleasing although Salisbury had already failed on one of the aims of the day, to prevent the opposition from crossing the whitewash.
Good unsung performances from Jonny Williams and Jack Clark who did all that was asked.
