Welcome to the 2011/12 season!

New challenges face Salisbury Rugby Club this season after last year's successes as our sides face higher level opposition. The senior XV kick off the new season in South West 1 East which will bring attractive opposition to Castle Road as well as featuring a couple of local derbies.  The second team have been rewarded by their excellent performances last year with promotion to Dorset & Wilts League 1 South.  Our juniora and minis have reat success over the past few years to emulate so there is much to look forward to.

We need your support throughout the club at all levels this year and I encourage you to play or watch, enjoy the bar, go to events at the club and generally use the facilities as much as possible.

At Salisbury RFC, we aim to embrace all that is good about rugby, both on and off the pitch – camaraderie and fun are equally as important as success.

As a club, we also aim to be at the heart of the community and this is reflected in the ongoing partnerships with schools and other organisations in the city. The club thrives on its support of young people, from mini rugby to through to the senior teams and, indeed, many ex-colts appear in the 1st XV and other senior sides each week.

As part of the community, Salisbury Rugby Club works with several partners including those from the voluntary sector. Last year, the club raised funds for the Stars Appeal and will be continuing to do so this coming season and have added the Army Benevolent Fund as another charitable cause.

A club like Salisbury is very much about its membership. Their commitment ranges from helping out on a Sunday morning, team management to attending the array of spectacular social events at the club. The forthcoming season will be no different and members and volunteers alike will be working on behalf of the club as well as enjoying the excellent facilities whether as a player, supporter, parent, partner or volunteer!

We are very proud of our players at all levels including our representative group. This ranges from county, university players, several armed forces representatives and of course the international players. This is a strong base from which to build and should lead to a successful season for Salisbury Rugby Club in the forthcoming season.

Enjoy the season ahead and thank you as ever for your ongoing support from minis to juniors to senior rugby and all associated volunteers including coaches, managers and administrators.

Regards

Martin Plimsoll
